Part of the fun of publishing a book is choosing the cover. When the cover is for your own book, though, the fun is lost under a lot of pressure. As a graphic designer, I knew I couldn’t hire this one out, but needed to do it myself. Jaden Baker is my baby, my brainchild, the greatest accomplishment of my life (thus far, anyway), and the cover needed to be perfect.
The novel is a psychological thriller, so I knew the colors needed to be muted, blurred, and I wanted more white than full color. It also had to convey mystery while showing off a bit of the man himself.
